La r\u00e9gion exigeait une solution qui d\u00e9passe les normes minimales d\u2019accessibilit\u00e9, \u00e9vite un caract\u00e8re institutionnel et s\u2019int\u00e8gre parfaitement dans un quartier r\u00e9sidentiel \u00e9tabli. Parall\u00e8lement, le projet devait concilier l\u2019abordabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 long terme, la performance \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et une livraison efficace. Plut\u00f4t que de regrouper les r\u00e9sidents dans un seul b\u00e2timent institutionnel, le projet adopte une typologie de \u00ab densit\u00e9 interm\u00e9diaire \u00bb qui refl\u00e8te l\u2019\u00e9chelle et le caract\u00e8re du quartier environnant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 trait\u00e9e comme un moteur de conception central, ce qui a permis de cr\u00e9er des habitations qui d\u00e9passent les exigences du Code du b\u00e2timent de l\u2019Ontario et de la SCHL. Chaque unit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 un large \u00e9ventail de besoins en mati\u00e8re de mobilit\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des d\u00e9gagements g\u00e9n\u00e9reux, des am\u00e9nagements adaptables, des salles de bain et des cuisines accessibles, ainsi qu\u2019un espace de rangement et de recharge d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux scooters aux entr\u00e9es. Le site a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9 pour \u00e9quilibrer intimit\u00e9 et connexion, avec des b\u00e2timents encadrant des espaces ext\u00e9rieurs partag\u00e9s, notamment un jardin central et des aires de repos qui encouragent l\u2019interaction sociale et renforcent le sentiment de communaut\u00e9.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour favoriser l\u2019abordabilit\u00e9 et la performance \u00e0 long terme, le lotissement a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u selon une norme inspir\u00e9e de la Maison Passive et r\u00e9alis\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019aide de panneaux muraux pr\u00e9fabriqu\u00e9s et d\u2019un syst\u00e8me de dalle isol\u00e9e. Ces strat\u00e9gies ont permis d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 de la construction, de r\u00e9duire les ponts thermiques et d\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer l\u2019assemblage sur place, tout en diminuant la consommation d\u2019\u00e9nergie op\u00e9rationnelle.
