Grace Anglican Church Addition Breaks Ground

Posted in: All News

Grace Anglican Church broke ground on Sunday, June 13 for a new addition called Bobby’s Place, a community and resilience hub.

The new community space is called Bobby’s Place in recognition of 10-year-old Bobby Smylie who passed away three years ago. His legacy is this new addition to the historic church, a place that will be accessible to people of all abilities and have a washroom and server.

As Grace Anglican describes, plans for a children’s respite care group, art classes, book clubs, science camps, speakers’ series, youth programs, parent and tot groups and other programs are underway, made possible by the new space. And atop Bobby’s Place will be the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Bell tower, housing the Thomas Fintoff Memorial Bell which will once again ring out for important events in the community.

mcCallumSather has been working with this group from the outset of this project, one that has been fully fundraised through their community and grassroots efforts. This is an extremely exciting step. Yet, the fundraising cannot stop now. With this event, Grace Anglican launched its next push. Should you wish to donate, please visit: http://www.graceanglicanwaterdown.org/bobby-s-place
