Heritage Delivers: Building a Business Case for Conservation

Heritage Professional, Christina Karney will be speaking at the 2019 National Trust Conference.

As a CAHP Certified architect and an associate at mcCallumSather, Christina has been instrumental in the development of Heritage Consulting as one of our firm’s niche services. Christina takes an active role in design, user group facilitation, and project management to create responsive and meaningful spaces. Her work in heritage conservation allows buildings to remain relevant well into the future through sustainable restoration or creative adaptive re-use, connecting the past with modern design.

The National Trust Conference 2019 Heritage Delivers: Impact, Authenticity, and Catalytic Change (presented in association with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals) brings together 450+ participants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including architects, conservation practitioners, policy-makers, volunteers and students that will challenge assumptions and inspire you with new perspectives.

Heritage Delivers explores the catalytic power of historic places and how they are essential to building vibrant, diverse communities, and sustainable economies. The conference will blend high-impact plenaries, with multiple concurrent session streams, workshops, and skill-building field sessions and explore the following themes:

  • Indigenous Cultural Heritage, Reconciliation, and Sites of Conscience
  • Design Impact – Great Places to Live, Works, and Play
  • Social and Environmental Impact – Green, Inclusive, and Healthy Communities
  • Economic Impact – Opportunity, Jobs, and Catalytic Effect
