Lab Design Specialist joins Board of Directors for SL Can

We are delighted to announce Senior Associate and Lab Design Specialist Liam Brown has joined the Board of Directors for Sustainable Labs Canada.

SL Can is a volunteer agency that fosters knowledge and expertise in laboratory design. Through thought leadership, webinars and conferences, SL Can tackles topics such as air management, design principles, use of hazardous materials, funding challenges, environmental impact and the use of green technologies. The organization provides valuable guidance and forward-looking insights for clients, suppliers and the whole design community.

In 2020, Liam contributed to the SLCan Pandemic Response Document, acting as chair for the pathogen research group.  This project focuses on how laboratory design can respond to a pandemic, with specific attention given to the challenges brought forward by COVID-19

Liam joined mcCallumSather five years ago, and has designed approximately three million square feet of specialized lab environments in that time. This includes the University of Guelph’s MacNaughton Building Renewal, home to the largest installation of low flow hoods in Canada; Science Renewal Master Plan for the University of Waterloo; and ongoing work with CCRM and McMaster Innovation Park as they develop a conceptual design for its Bio-Manufacturing Campus one of the anchors of the McMaster Innovation Park’s exciting new Master Plan. His clients include LifeLabs, IDEXX, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, McMaster University, McMaster Innovation Park, Brock University, and the University of Guelph.
