mcCallumSather Acquires Edge Architects

SUSTAINABILITY DESIGN LEADER USHERS IN NEW ERA OF GROWTH AND INNOVATION
WITH THE ACQUISITION OF EDGE ARCHITECTS

 

Hamilton, Ontario, November 23, 2023 – mcCallumSather is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Edge Architects. The transaction will be completed on January 1, 2024, and the combined firm will operate under the name of mcCallumSather. Edge Founders Matthew Bolen and Michael Trussell will join mcCallumSather as Managing Principals.

A rising force in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, Edge Architects has a diverse portfolio of multi-residential, commercial, and healthcare buildings. The firm is especially known for its expertise in the design of mass timber structures and prefabricated buildings.

For over 20 years, mcCallumSather has delivered innovative projects in Southern Ontario, earning recognition for its environmental and technological leadership. Some of the firm’s notable achievements include the first LEED Gold Certified project under the Canada Green Building Council, the first building in Canada to gain Zero Carbon Building Standard Certification in both design and performance categories, the largest LiveLab of its kind at the McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind, and the only open-access full scale press and manufacturing equipment center at Western University, a first in North America. The firm’s mechanical engineering team has developed unique expertise in the design of highly sustainable mechanical systems for complex building typologies and completed deep energy retrofits and decarbonization programs for clients.
