60 Caledon Community Development

The 60 Caledon development is located on the former site of the Mountain Secondary School in Hamilton. It is currently being reimagined into a mixed income residential community by the Caledon Community Collaborative, a partnership of Hamilton East Kiwanis Non-Profit Homes Inc. and Victoria Park Community Homes. Its vision is for an environmentally sustainable, safe and age friendly community space, adding social and economic value to the City’s Yeoville neighbourhood. Design Builder Ellis Don is leading a multi-faceted design incorporating Net Zero Carbon and LEED Gold targets.

mcCallumSather has been with this project from the beginning. Located at the top of the escarpment and located within the City’s urban context, it was important design solutions that would feel appropriate and weave within the overall community fabric. The solutions include a mix of apartment buildings and townhomes, with 47% of the overall lot dedicated to landscaping. The organization of buildings create new community pathways and enhance the region’s greenspace. It was equally important its programming include services that fill a need in the area, including a daycare.

The project currently has conditional site plan approval and is in the design development phase.
