Allan F. Gretsinger Community Pool

The Allan F. Gretsinger Community Pool, a new construction project, to serve the Town of Lincoln. In 2006, we undertook the design and oversight of the pool and facilities, which resulted in an accessible, multi-generational facility that served a broad community base.

The pool is located at 4361 Central Avenue, Beamsville. It is a heated, five lane, wheelchair accessible pool, 25 metres in length with a depth of 3 feet in the shallow end and 11 feet in the deep end.

We worked closely with the town to design the full facility, including an accessible change pavilion that contains both male and female change areas as well as a family change room. A small concession has been provided in the building as well as the required storage and pool mechanical rooms.

The sloped roof and clerestory window elements of the pavilion were designed to make the best use of natural light and ventilation within the building. The building not only takes advantage of natural summer light, but also provides shade to part of the pool deck with the roof overhang. The pavilion itself was designed to become an enclosed facility, should the Town of Lincoln choose to renovate the facility in the future.
