Central Ambulance Communications Centre
Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACCs pronounced “kacks”) receives ambulance calls, prioritize the urgency of requests, determines the appropriate destination hospital to meet patient needs and provide callers with pre-arrival first aid instructions. The operations centre deploys, coordinates and directs the movement of all ambulances and emergency response vehicles within its geographic catchment areas.
We acted as the Prime/Architectural Consultant for the building addition and renovation of the existing CACC in Hamilton. The design is considered post-disaster and able to function without power if a major disaster occurs. Our renovation involved the removal and disposal of an existing generator and diesel tank. We installed a new generator and diesel tank, new uninterrupted power supply, and constructed a new generator building. We expanded their footprint within the main building, making room for a new training facility and disaster recovery site.
