Something In The Water Brewery
mcCallumSather collaborated with Green Propeller Design, leading the mechanical engineering for a micro brewery and tap room located in the heart of Toronto on Liberty Street. Owner Steve Waugh calls it, “our first and flagship brewery, bottle shop, and café.”
Our team designed the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for the new brewery. To ensure optimal air quality, we selected an energy recovery ventilator (ERV) to bring in fresh air, and heat pumps for space conditioning. We worked closely with the Brew Master to coordinate the required utilities for the Brew House, such as potable and non-potable water, steam, glycol, and drainage.
One of the challenges we faced was the chiller system used for crash cooling, which was not CSA certified. Therefore, we were engaged by the client to validate the chiller system’s selection, design, and layout, and assisted in the equipment’s certification process.
Throughout the project, we were hands-on on-site during construction to ensure proper material installation. The project was a success, and the micro brewery and tap room is now open for business, offering craft beer enthusiasts a unique space to enjoy quality drinks.
