Uqutaaq Society Building 158

The Uquutaq Butler and 158 Building developments are two affordable housing projects in Iqaluit, Nunavut designed for local housing provider Uquutaq Society. Uquutaq Society’s mission is to provide culturally sensitive, safe, healthy and dignified housing solutions and supports for homeless people in Iqaluit.

Elements of the new building designs draw inspiration from a minimalist modern design look and will be structured on an elevated pre-engineered metal system building. The developments are designed to feature multiple barrier free accessibility units and will aim for a high energy efficiency design. This three-storey development will comprise 20 units and 57 beds. Located at 158 Nipisa St in Iqaluit, Nunavut, the Uquuataq development is designed as an LBS & transitional housing shelter for the vulnerable members of the community. The design features a commercial kitchen, dinning area, and a warming center on the first floor. A second level admin and LBS space. And a third level transitional living units with shared laundry and kitchens for residents.
