Welcoming our newest leaders

Posted in: All News

We are excited to announce a new Principal, Willems Ransom, and three new associates, Adam McCaughan, Liz Gabaldo and David Riley, promoted within mcCallumSather’s leadership team.

“This is a significant step in our firm’s succession plan,” says Joanne McCallum, Executive Director. “We could never have imagined what mcCallumSather would become when Greg and I started the firm 25 years ago, in the middle of a recession none the less. We knew that sustainable design was critical and very few organizations had this as a priority. We are humbled to see this next generation of leadership step forward. They are deeply passionate about our sustainability mission and ready to invest in our collective futures.”

Willems, our newest Principal, is an award-winning designer with an impressive portfolio of projects on both sides of the border. Since joining mcCallumSather, Willems has helped to advance sustainable projects like the exciting Toronto Public Library Centennial Location with Net Zero targets and designs with a truly transformative impact such as the Liberian Learning Centre. His passion for design is infectious, translating into a real care for detail benefiting both the team and our clients. He is currently spearheading our growth in Buffalo, NY and continues to expand his healthcare, post secondary and municipal portfolios in Southern Ontario.

Adam has been with mcCallumSather since the beginning of his career 13 years ago. Having led LEED Facilitation on projects throughout Southern Ontario and as far east as Newfoundland, Adam exemplifies the firm’s mission of advancing sustainable intelligence. Perhaps its no surprise then that his success with LEED Facilitation comes from a deep understanding of the architectural process. Adam has a history on award-winning projects such as The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation with B+H and Ministry of Transportation, Traffic Operations Centre with Kasian.

Liz was only officially in the office for one week before the pandemic lockdown began. In the face of these obstacles, ever energetic and creative, Liz has helped to expand our markets into the design of single-family homes and grow our presence with bespoke retail and interior environments. With more than 30 years of experience, her mentorship, creativeness and innovative approaches help to tailor environments that exemplify the unique identities of her clients.

David has been with mcCallumSather for four years as a key member of our mechanical engineering group. A PMP certified engineer, David brings the exciting ability to lead projects at all phases of design, and dedication to data driven design solutions critical to our ability to make thoughtful, sustainable decisions. He quickly made his mark on award-winning designs such as the Westinghouse HQ and is currently completing construction on the University of Guelph’s MacNaughton Building, a Graduate Research Laboratory project with strong energy reduction targets and one of the largest low-flow fume hood installations in Canada.

Join us in congratulating our new Principal and Associates!
