Liberian Learning Centre Featured in “150 Libraries You Need to Visit Before You Die”

The Liberian Learning Centre is featured in 150 Libraries You Need to Visit Before You Die by Léa Teuscher, recognizing its innovative approach to community learning and development.

Located in Paynesville, Liberia, the Centre is the country’s first post-war library and a powerful symbol of resilience, collaboration, and hope. Led by Leo Nupolu Johnson, Founder and Executive Director of Empowerment Squared, the project was realized through the shared efforts of Empowerment Squared, Hamilton Public Library, and mcCallumSather, alongside a network of local and international partners.

The inclusion of the Liberian Learning Centre in Teuscher’s publication celebrates not only the architecture but also the collective effort behind it – a testament to what can be achieved through partnership, purpose, and the belief in education’s power to transform lives.

150 Libraries You Need to Visit Before You Die is available for pre-order, and is set to be released in December 2025.
