Core Development Group, 73 Hughson

Opportunity

73 Hughson St. is currently an empty parking lot in Hamilton’s city centre. Core Development Group purchased the property with the goal of developing a residential mixed-use tower that stood out amongst the many new developments proposed within what has been dubbed Hamilton’s Design District.

Response

The proposal brought before the City’s Design Review Panel includes a 31-storey, 380-unit mixed use tower. At the ground level there will be retail spaces, residential lobby, bike storage and service space. A pass through at this level allows for an extended, accessible public space designed to animate the street level experience. The podium is arranged in two-tiers, creating extended outdoor terraces on both the 7th and 13th floors. From levels 13-30, a squarish residential tower rises, culminating in indoor and outdoor amenities at the 31st floor. There will be four levels of underground parking, with 176 parking spaces.
