We are thrilled to share that 1120 Ossington, designed for St. Clare’s Multifaith Housing Society, has been selected as a winner in the Private Buildings category at this year’s Toronto Urban Design Awards.
This project shows what’s possible when design meets urgent community need. Working within the constraints of a compact urban site, the team developed a rapid, cost-effective solution to deliver permanent, supportive housing in Toronto. By combining innovative construction strategies, including the use of mass timber and prefabricated modular panels, the building was assembled in just 17 working days, providing residents with high-quality homes quickly while exceeding sustainability targets set by CMHC’s Rapid Housing Fund.
Congratulations to St. Clare’s and the entire project team! This recognition reflects what can be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to community.
