Social Good Award at 2026 AZ Awards Presented to 1120 Ossington

1120 Ossington took home the Social Good Award at the AZ Awards Gala last night. Congratulations to St Clare’s Multifaith Housing Society and the entire project team on this tremendous achievement.

This win reflects a deep understanding of the needs of a community, and how thoughtful design can help address them. The decisions that shaped this project are closely aligned with the themes of the Social Good Award, which recognizes work that advances social equity, sustainability, and community well-being. We believe 1120 Ossington perfectly captures that messaging.

St. Clare’s saw an urgent need for affordable, transitional housing, and the project team came together around a shared goal: creating a place that would provide more than just shelter. The design prioritizes dignity, comfort, and a sense of belonging, while ensuring residents have access to a safe, welcoming environment that supports their transition to more stable housing.

Despite the challenges faced – whether that was budget constraints, funding requirements, or a small urban site to work with – the team persevered without compromising durability, livability, or architectural quality. Every decision was made with the long-term success of the building and its residents in mind, proving that affordable housing can be thoughtfully designed, sustainable, and deeply connected to the needs of the people it serves.

Thank you to Azure Magazine for inviting us to the awards ceremony, and for recognizing this important project.
