One year after opening, Kitchener Public Library’s Southwest Branch continues to demonstrate the impact that thoughtful, community-focused design can have on the way people learn, connect and gather.

Featured on the cover of the SABMag Ontario Focus Summer issue, the project was shaped through a collaborative process centred around understanding the needs of the library, its staff and its community. Together, we explored how a civic building can respond to the needs of today while remaining adaptable for the future.

The experience gained through Kitchener Public Library is helping inform our approach to future community spaces, carrying forward lessons around flexibility, sustainability and designing for long-term value.
